Frequently Asked Questions

Got questions? We’ve got answers.

Whether you're looking for a bakkie to move a couch, a truck for your business, or loads for your vehicle, here's everything you need to know about using Kol A Bakkie.

Booking & Using Kol A Bakkie

Kol A Bakkie is a digital transport marketplace that connects individuals and businesses who need goods moved with drivers and transporters who have the right vehicle, capacity and availability for the job.

From everyday bakkie loads to larger commercial and specialised freight, our aim is to make finding and booking transport simpler.

Tell us what you need moved, where it needs to be collected and delivered, and when you need it transported.

We use this information to help match your load with suitable transport options. Once you've selected an option and completed the required booking process, your transport can be confirmed.

Kol A Bakkie can accommodate a wide range of transport requirements, including furniture, appliances, household goods, marketplace purchases, stock, pallets, building materials, equipment, machinery and general commercial freight.

Certain restricted, hazardous or specialised goods may require additional information or may not be accepted.

Our vehicle network may include:
1 Ton Bakkies
1 Ton Bakkies with Trailers

Vehicle availability depends on the location, load requirements and available transporters.

That's okay. Provide as much information as possible about your load, including the type of goods, approximate quantity, dimensions and weight where known.

We'll use this information to help identify a suitable vehicle for the job.

Absolutely. Kol A Bakkie isn't only for large freight.

You can use the platform for smaller once-off requirements such as collecting furniture, transporting an appliance, moving bulky purchases or handling loads that simply won't fit in your car.

Yes. Kol A Bakkie can assist with smaller household moves, furniture and appliance transport and other home-related loads.

Make sure you tell us exactly what needs to be moved so that the appropriate vehicle and capacity can be arranged.

Yes. Kol A Bakkie is designed for both individuals and businesses.

Businesses can use the platform for once-off deliveries as well as recurring requirements such as stock movements, customer deliveries, equipment transport and commercial freight.

Quotes & Pricing

Complete our quote request with your collection location, delivery location, load information and required date.

The more accurate the information you provide, the more accurately your transport requirement can be assessed.

Pricing may depend on factors including:
Distance travelled
Vehicle type required
Size and weight of the load
Collection and delivery locations
Number of stops
Special handling requirements
Loading or waiting requirements
Tolls and route requirements
Vehicle availability

Any additional requirements should be disclosed when requesting your quote.

Your price should be based on the information supplied when the quote and booking are completed.

However, additional charges may apply if the actual transport requirements differ materially from the information originally provided — for example, if the load is significantly larger, the address changes, additional stops are added or extended waiting time is required.

We aim to make applicable charges clear before a booking is confirmed.

If circumstances change during the booking or transport process and additional charges become necessary, these should be communicated where reasonably possible.

Collection & Delivery

Yes. Kol A Bakkie is intended to support local, regional and long-distance transport requirements.

Availability will depend on suitable transporters operating on the required route.

Yes. Interprovincial and long-distance transport can be arranged where suitable transport capacity is available.

You or an authorised person should generally be available at collection and delivery unless alternative arrangements have been agreed beforehand.

Please ensure that we have the correct contact information for the relevant people at both locations.

Do not automatically assume that loading or unloading assistance is included.

If you require assistance with loading, unloading or additional labour, tell us when requesting your transport so that the requirement can be considered when arranging the service.

Waiting time may result in additional charges, particularly where delays are outside the transporter's control.

Please make sure that goods are ready for collection and that reasonable access is available when the driver arrives.

Cancellations

Yes. We understand that plans change.

Contact Kol A Bakkie as soon as possible if you need to cancel or amend a booking.

Depending on how far the booking has progressed, reasonable cancellation costs may apply.

This depends on the circumstances and timing of the cancellation.

If no transporter has yet been committed to the booking, you may generally be eligible for a full refund of the transport amount paid.

Where a transporter has already reserved capacity, been dispatched or incurred costs, reasonable cancellation charges may apply.

Please see our Cancellation & Refund Policy for full details.

Notify Kol A Bakkie if there is any issue with your assigned transporter.

Where a transporter becomes unable to complete a confirmed booking, we'll endeavour to arrange suitable replacement transport.

If replacement transport cannot reasonably be arranged, any applicable refund or other remedy will be handled in accordance with our Cancellation & Refund Policy and applicable law.

Goods, Safety & Insurance

Customers should not assume that every load is automatically insured against every possible risk simply because transport was booked through Kol A Bakkie.

Insurance arrangements may differ depending on the transporter and service. Where insurance or goods-in-transit cover applies, relevant limits, conditions and exclusions may apply.

If you're transporting high-value or specialised goods, raise the insurance requirements before confirming your booking.

Report any apparent damage as soon as reasonably possible and provide photographs and supporting information where available.

The circumstances will then need to be assessed, including the transporter involved and any applicable insurance arrangements.

Yes. Illegal goods and goods that cannot lawfully or safely be transported are prohibited.

Certain hazardous, regulated, oversized, high-value or specialised goods may also require specific vehicles, permits, insurance or prior approval.

Always disclose the nature of the goods accurately when requesting transport.

Drivers & Transporters

Complete the Register as a Driver application on our website.

We'll ask for information about you, your driving experience, vehicle or transport capabilities and operating areas.

You'll also need to provide the required verification documentation before your application can be approved.

Depending on whether you're registering as an individual driver, owner-driver or transport business, we may request documents such as:
ID or passport Driver's licence
PrDP where applicable
Vehicle licence/registration
Roadworthy documentation where applicable
Proof of insurance
Vehicle photographs
Company registration documents where applicable

Additional documentation may be requested during verification.

Once you've completed your driver registration, follow the document-submission instructions provided with your application.

Make sure you use the requested application reference so that we can match your documents to your registration.

No.

Submitting a registration is an application to join the Kol A Bakkie network. Applications and supporting information may be reviewed and verified before approval.

Yes. Our driver registration allows you to tell us whether you're a driver looking for opportunities, an owner-driver or operating as part of a transport business.

Transport businesses and fleet operators may register multiple vehicles as the Kol A Bakkie transporter network develops.

Make sure you indicate the size of your fleet and the vehicle types you operate when completing your application.

Drivers and transporters are expected to honour accepted bookings.

Where a transporter cancels without reasonable cause, particularly at short notice, reasonable costs or losses directly arising from that cancellation may be recoverable in accordance with the applicable Driver & Transporter Terms.

Repeated avoidable cancellations or no-shows may also result in restrictions, suspension or removal from the network.
